Hey all,

I have been thinking a lot lately about freecheats and the potential it has. I'm thinking harsh has maybe died or abandoned this place altogether. I'm not sure when this domain expires but I would definitely like to keep it in our hands and not let some shitty advertising company get a hold of it. This place could be so much more!

Post thoughts.

I was thinking the same exact thing not too long ago, dude. It was supposed to expire in August, but I guess Harsh isn't dead, he renewed it. It doesn't expire until 2014 now. (http://www.networksolutions.com/whois-search/freecheats.com) He's probably just sitting on it waiting for someone to give him some cash or something. Not a bad idea when you think about how many people randomly come here every day. If we were to actually make this site something, even just a stupid cheat code site, it would get a thousand times the hits it does now. I just can't think of how to make any money off of it. I know there are ads and everything, but Adblock Plus is starting to be used by everyone just like when Pop-up blockers first came out. So ads either wouldn't work, or wouldn't work for long. Another way people make money off of sites is by setting up crap that you have to be a paid member to get to. What could we possibly put on a cheat site to make people want to pay to see? I totally agree about the potential, but what are your ideas exactly? I could definitely help to buy the domain and I've gotten pretty good at PHP and Mysql, so I could help develop whatever we would decide on.

And just a random question for everyone, what Operating System do you run? Mac, Windows, Linux, FreeBSD?

I can't agree more. And it's not all about money.. just seeing this place alive again would be worth it for me. How about a social-media cheat website! heh. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to get a hold of harsh or whoever is paying for this place. If he really wanted money he would do something. And i have 3 computers all with windows... i have no idea why. Really thinking about getting around to linux.

edit.. checked that link and it seems to have an email on there. maybe i'll write an official looking email and get him to post or something.

Yeah. Just having the site actually being used for something would be pretty cool. If he didn't respond to either of you guys, there's an address on there that we could mail something to. Even if he won't give us the domain, he might give us control of the site. And about the wanting to try Linux, why haven't you yet? It's awesome. I'm a frickin' fanatic now. Heh. What distro are you considering?

We could turn it into a cracking site. lol. Or have cheats / glitches / guides for certain video games or maybe even mmorpgs like wow . Or maybe something like a rip off of game faqs. Whatever we do we would have to abide by US laws I think.. Anyways, whatever we decide on still leaves us at where we are now.: Screwed without harsh.

I've actually been using Ubuntu since my last post. It's pretty sweet, I'm just trying to get all my games to work on it and stuff. But still it's pretty amazing! I don't even need a firewall or anything.. and it's super fast.. and free! It's seriously way cool I'm likin it lots.

At least she would respond... Anyway. I remember recently he went on a 2 year trip around the world, and the only reason I found that out was because I visited his clan's IRC channel. So really... who knows where he is. I'm pretty sure Freecheats isn't on the top of his to-do list. So where does that leave us? There's still the core people that always made this place. Maro, fuzz, alora, lits, gtaguy, scammerslayer. Who am I missing? Some of these people are hardly active. But if we had something going I know they would all come back. It is definitely possible! But sadly, it appears FC is out of anyones control now. So really that only leaves us the option to create something entirely new. I don't know what, or where, or anything. I just know it can happen if we want it to! So my question for everyone is... yay or nay? Otherwise... I love you all and this place helped define who I am.

Aw. I love you too. Tongue   This place and you guys are really a part of my life. That's why I always come back. I have important memories of this place. Heh. The people you forgot know who they are, so don't worry about it.

We definitely should do something, I'm down for whatever. I can definitely help with whatever it is. I just don't have any ideas either.

Whatever we do decide on though, we could rehack this place to redirect to our project.  Cheesy

Thought you dropped off the face of the planet Matty. Anyways, whoever was talking about ads and stuff is correct. Companies will only want to advertise on sites that have a high exposure rate. Advertisers are mostly going to what is called CPC or cost per click which is where the business that is advertising pays you every time some one clicks on their ad. If you are really really serious about bringing this place back you are going to have to position the website. You were totally right in what you were saying before. We need to find an unfulfilled need in online aspects of gaming. If you do however find something that works, you have to stick with it. lol I don't know if that will help or not or if I was just talking out my ass XD
